Loosing Air

For some reason my rear tire lost air today. I put air in and listened and it was slowly leaking air. Decided to put fix a flat in to see if it would hold. It held until my ride home from work. Once I got home I could see fix a flat coming out of the rear rim spokes. Plus it seemed to shake alot on my way home.

My guess: Rear tire out of alignment. This could twist the rim and loosen the spokes. Just need to tighten the spokes and straighten the wheel

If anyone has experienced this please let me know. I don't want to go out and purchase a new rim if I can fix mine. Also, no air coming out of the tire.

If you are loosing air out of the spokes you most likely have a leak in your inner tube. Check for a puncture or a bad valve stem... Either way your going to need a new tube IMO..

It isn't the tire, in this case, that determines the need for a tube. It is the laced wheel.
Spkes mean and unsealed rim. The wheel is designed for use with a tube. Most tubeless motorcycle tires can be used with a tube on wheels that call for a tube tire.

Wouldn't leak through the 'spokes' since the do not penetrate the rim.

FWIW, I run 'tubeless' tires on my 250, but still need tube and rim strip. A little harder to mount and tougher sidewalls.

Thanks for the info. So I went outside and looked....says TUBE / TUBELESS. Guess I just need a new Tube and Rim Strip....Low air would cause the bike to shake so I now what that cause is.

Does anyone know what type of shop I should go to to have a new tube put in?

Thanks...I'll keep everyone updated.

Any decent bike shop. If you have one you trust all the better.

Check the tire itself for any defects, punctures, etc. Even if you put in a new tube you could be running a risk if you have bad rubber...

pretty sure my tire is good. I have looked it over and did the water and soap all over the tire. Only bike shops I know of in Arizona is Ride Now. Guess I'll have to look around. Thanks for all the info

I just use two flat head screwdrivers:D Dont got tire irons...
But would not do it on aluminium rims tho

I'd have the spoke tension checked. If they are loose enough to puncture a tube they need to be tightened. Then you can install the new rim strip and tube.

Just got to be careful:D Have had my tires on and off the rims three times. No issues there:)

Well I have tire Irons....I'm going to see what the cost is to have it mounted at a shop. But I really enjoy doing things myself on this old bike. I know the tube runs around $25 so it shouldn't cost them much to install and mount. Thanks for all the tips and tricks...I'll keep you all in the loop as to what is gonna happen.

Just bought mine for $11 with rim strip from my FLIB...

not sure that is the case. Had a really bad vibration the first ride of the morning. I thought it was the engine mounts coming loose but I checked those. Could be the tube inside moving around and binding up.

Not too bad, but I would ask them to balance the wheel too...

I bet it has loose spokes too.
